Since launching on March 6, 2007, our goal at TeacherTube has been to provide an online community for sharing instructional and education videos for college students, high school students, middle school students and elementary school students. We seek to fill a need for a more educationally focused, safe venue for teachers, students, schools, and home learners. It is a site to provide anytime, anywhere professional development with teachers teaching teachers. It is also a site where teachers can post videos designed for students to view in order to learn a concept or skill.

The service is free for everyone. We always encourage our users to Contact Us with thoughts, suggestions, or other feedback. We do have a vision for TeacherTube to truly be a better alternative to other video storage sites. With the community's help, it can become more interactive and engaging for all teachers and learners.

Science videos are one of the key subjects that students are taught in school. Science is present from the early years of grade school up to the highest levels of academic achievement. As students move up the ranks, their study of science tends to get more specialized into one specific field only, like chemistry, biology, or physics. We have educational videos for all of these courses.

TeacherTube.com's section on science educational videos has content of interest to all learning levels. We have topics as varied as educational songs for elementary school students, up to chemical engineering for college students.

The purpose of social studies, based on the US National Council for the Social Studies, is to promote "civic competence" among students. In other words, the subject equips students to become better citizens of a country. This is done by exploring history, geography, current events, and governments, among others. Middle school social studies usually deal with one of each of these fields per grade level.

With this knowledge, students gain the ability to become more socially aware and to be actively involved citizens of their country. Through analyzing current events, students will also learn how to predict the consequences of the things happening around them. With that, they can be good influences on their communities.

Language arts, as the name suggests, equips students with a wide range of ways to use language. It comprises both speaking and writing skills. In addition to the basics, the subject also deals with the artistic side of language, infusing creativity in the ways students communicate.

There are four basic aspects to understanding a language: speaking, reading, listening, and writing. Language arts classes aim to enhance those skills at each year level. At first, it covers basic topics like grammar, sentence construction, and paragraphs. Exercises in language arts become progressively more complex as students move up the ranks, and usually, in higher grades, more emphasis is put on creativity and persuasiveness.

Some kids are auditory learners. In other words, they learn best when they listen to sounds and music. For this type of student, educational songs will certainly be a big helping hand. Even the most complex of concepts, when taught through songs, will be very easy for them to understand and remember. Even kids who are not so much inclined to auditory learning may like this method.

These videos demonstrate varied representations of social justice practices. We hope this video series inspires pedagogical reflection and a space where teachers and teacher educators might reflect and connect to their own context and students.

Rachel AxelradIn this video, I discuss a few responsive, trauma-informed practices that I use in my classroom. This includes room environment, creating a calm corner, and the language we use around problem-solving conflicts. All students deserve to feel safe and cared for in their classrooms. When we foster a feeling of safety for our young learners, they are better able to learn and grow!

Lauren CarrIn this video, I explain why I shifted from traditional conferences to student-led conferences. Student-led conferences empower student voice and provide powerful opportunities for students to advocate for their own learning. In my classroom I use student led conferences to increase family engagement, build relationships and let students lead their learning.

Henry GarcíaIn this video, I discuss how student-to-student discussion protocols can be used as a strategy for co-constructing knowledge alongside students. Discussion protocols can be used throughout the day and in the context of any subject matter. In my classroom, I use discussion techniques as a way of elevating student voice and sharing the responsibility of teaching and learning with my students.

Safe and nutritious food is the foundation of good health, and people in the United States have more food choices than ever before. Several of these choices are due to continuously improving technologies in food agriculture. Many people want to know more about how their food is produced so they can make the right choices for themselves. Science and Our Food Supply: Exploring Food Agriculture and Biotechnology aims to empower you and your students to make those choices. It incorporates key scientific knowledge and education resources to help students understand how biotechnology is used to produce food for humans and animals.

Millions of Americans take dietary supplements, and that number continues to rise. However, dietary supplement labeling can be confusing or misleading. Teens are particularly vulnerable targets for misunderstanding what dietary supplements are and are often unaware of the potential benefits and adverse effects they can have on their bodies. This curriculum is designed to empower students to evaluate the accuracy and credibility of information they see and hear about dietary supplements.

As dietary supplements attract interest among American teenagers who are struggling with perceived or real weight issues, or striving to enhance their sports performance or overall appearance, it is important that students have the right educational tools to help them understand whether to use a particular dietary supplement. The content and activities in Science and Our Food Supply: Examining Dietary Supplements are designed to intrigue and stimulate student curiosity and help them to make healthy decisions.

The YouTube assignment submission plugin is for the Moodle assignment (2.3 and above). It allows teachers to set an assignment, for which a submission can be a video. The video is uploaded from the student's pc/device directly to YouTube. The video file is stored on YouTube, though it is accessible from Moodle.

If you plan to use the video upload form to submit videos to YouTube, then you will need to configure authentication. (For creating videos by webcam, there is no need to set up authentication systems in Moodle, but the student will be required to login to their Google/YouTube account. For linking to existing YouTube videos, no authentication is necessary at all.)

If authenticating via a master YouTube account, you need to set the YouTube master account user name and password. If authenticating student by student, you will need to enter your Google OAuth2 credentials. These are the same credentials you would use for the Google Docs repository and the Google Docs portfolio. Information on these can be found here: _OAuth_2.0_setup

The YouTube master account method is simpler to setup, and simple for students because they don't need to login. But there are very good reasons for using OAuth2 over using a YouTube master account. They are explained here. -uploads-from-your-sites-community.html

To create the assignment, first login as a teacher or administrator and turn on editing mode. Then from the appropriate course section click the "add an activity or resource" link. From the popup menu choose "Assignment" (not Assignment 2.2 or its sub menu options) and click the "add" button. You will need to enter a name and description for the new assignment. Most of the other settings are optional and depend on the submission type(s) you enable for the assignment. It is possible to enable more than one submission type per assignment. For example, an assignment could accept both a YouTube video and a text outline of the contents of the video. The YouTube submission default settings are those set on the main settings page for the plugin. 2ff7e9595c
